Friends of Landsberg at work!

Since the beginning of March 2020, the Landsberg Castle has been benefiting from the brand new association of les Amis du Landsberg, a team of enthusiasts who have formed to ensure its upkeep and preservation.

One of the most beautiful jewels of castle architecture surrounding Mont Sainte-Odile will thus be able to benefit from the regular care of an official association, like many other ruins in the region. The challenge is consequent: the Landsberg, with the platform at its feet, has a large surface area requiring many hours of maintenance, both inside and outside.

The association has set itself the priority objective of maintaining the surroundings and the interior of the castle in order to enhance it and make the visit pleasant and instructive. Thus, throughout the summer season, building sites are organised for bush clearing, removal of ivy in certain places, cutting of waste... Subsequently, consolidation or restoration work may be envisaged where urgent action is required: putting back in place stones that have become loose, securing exterior and interior walkways, etc...

One of the aims of the association is also to make the remarkable architectural features of Landsberg better known. Visits and activities are planned on the spot, especially on the occasion of the Heritage Days or the Day of the Fortified Castles.

The president of the association is the sculptor Sébastien Fernex, who lives in the forest house of Landsberg in the immediate vicinity of the ruin. People who would like to join the association are welcome.
