It is the eve of Valentine’s Day.

Justin Vaire, a debt-ridden landowner, keeps staging fake suicide attempts.

Fed up, his partner Odette leaves him.

Pauline, his housekeeper, is struggling to make ends meet. To claim benefits, she has documents forged to declare dependants to the CAF. The CAF, suspicious, sends an inspector. The housekeeper suggests that Justin goes out to take his mind off things.

The next day, Justin is reported dead! Why? How? What are the consequences?
