Why the name Snaggletooth?

It is, of course, a direct reference to Snaggletooth B. Motörhead, the famous character with a skull and boar’s jaw that has long been Motörhead’s iconic emblem. The character was created by the artist Joe Petagno and first appeared on the 1977 album *Motörhead*. Formed in 2008, SNAGGLETOOTH is a German trio that pays tribute to Motörhead by prioritising energy, power and musical authenticity above all else, rather than visual imitation. With Lurchi on vocals and bass, Max on guitar and Mücke on drums, the three musicians from the original line-up have been putting on a particularly energetic show for nearly twenty years, blending classic hits with more unexpected tracks from Motörhead’s repertoire.

Originally, three friends and Motörhead fans – Mücke, Max and Lurchi – got together to play a few tracks by Lemmy & Co. Their philosophy is clear: they do not seek to imitate Lemmy or be his lookalike. Live, SNAGGLETOOTH delivers Motörhead’s raw sound: rock ’n’ roll played without compromise. SNAGGLETOOTH has built up a solid reputation on the German tribute scene. A review of their gig at the Jazzhaus in Freiburg rightly points out that their approach isn’t simply to visually replicate Motörhead or to just string together the hits.

After nearly two decades now – a remarkable feat for a tribute band – SNAGGLETOOTH does not capitalise on nostalgia for Motörhead; SNAGGLETOOTH is MOTÖRHEAD...
