Eiblen and Illfeld Nature Reserve

The Eiblen and Illfeld regional nature reserve covers an area of over 81 hectares near the major riverbed of the Ill, after the confluence with the Thur in the commune of Réguisheim, between Colmar & Mulhouse.



It is made up of various natural habitats, in particular:



* riparian environments shaped by man, retaining a high level of biological richness: the site is marked by the presence of an oak-oak forest and former floodplain meadows, supported by an extensive network of irrigation canals. There is also a conservatory orchard, home to 47 ancient varieties of fruit, along the Quatelbach (an artificial watercourse running from Mulhouse to Neuf-Brisach).



The reserve also boasts a rich and varied flora. Among its flowers are the leaning ornithogale, the intermediate barbary and the common filipendula. The reserve is home to wildlife species such as the beaver, goosander, red-backed shrike and European kingfisher.



The entire site is open to the public.
