Truchtersheim

Overlooked by its water tower, the town of Truchtersheim occupies the central geographical position of the Kochersberg, a rich hilly agricultural region to the west of Strasbourg. Truchtersheim was linked to Strasbourg by tram as early as 1887, which was an extraordinary factor of development for the whole sector: freight trains (sugar beet, etc.) and passenger trains, transport of mail, employees, farmers going to the market, high school students, etc. The line was definitively suppressed in 1953 in favour of coach transport, but was kept in service until 1956 for the sole transport of sugar beet. The church of Saints Peter and Paul was built in 1964. You will be able to admire the work of Thierry RUHLMANN, master glassmaker, who created the coloured stained glass windows.

Since March 2017, the centre of the village has been home to a cultural centre: the esKapade. Housing the Kochersberg House, completely renovated, as well as a Tourist Office, but also an artist's studio, an Italian restaurant, a conference room and a projection room at 180°.

For lovers of the great outdoors, the village is crossed by various paths marked out by the Club Vosgien and offers an eco-educational park with a health trail.
