Discover the charms of Fleckenstein Castle, built in the 12th century as a truly impregnable fortress. It held out for four centuries before being destroyed in 1689 by French troops. Guardian of the Sauer Valley, the Four à Chaux complex is situated on a hill overlooking the village of Lembach. It takes its name from an old lime kiln. The 3 km of tunnels extend 30 meters underground. Twenty-four officers and 600 men lived there.
