The charming village of Oberbronn stretches along the foothills of the Vosges mountains, known as the “gréseuses” (sandstone mountains). Oberbronn has retained its unique character with picturesque narrow streets lined with half-timbered houses dating from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Lovers of old buildings will appreciate the emblems of the guilds, dates, names, and initials of the builders engraved some 400 years ago in the sandstone lintels above the doors. The Maison d'accueil des Sœurs du Très-Saint-Sauveur/l'Hôtellerie du Couvent d'Oberbronn also welcomes visitors to its peaceful gardens.
A discovery trail highlights the rich heritage of this former wine-growing village, now much loved by storks, who stay there for much of the year. Since 1992, the municipality of Oberbronn has made a special effort to protect the presence of this bird, which is inseparable from the image of Alsace.
