The gateway to the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, the town of Reichshoffen was made famous by the legendary charge of the cuirassiers in 1870.
Its old town center has some wonderful surprises in store for visitors: ramparts, the Château De Dietrich (now privately owned), the Saint-Michel church, listed as a historic monument, Luxembourg Island, the seigneurial mill, and more.
The Historical and Industrial Museum – Iron Museum traces the development of the local metallurgical industry, notably highlighting the expansion of the De Dietrich company.
Two kilometers north of the town, the Wohlfahrtshoffen lake, classified as a “voluntary nature reserve,” is popular for its pleasant footpath, fitness trail, and bird observatory.
