Synopsis On Day of the Dead, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera briefly relive their tumultuous love, embracing both passion and pain, before bidding a final farewell to the land of the living. Why go to see this opera? The season closes with the first opera by American composer Gabriela Lena Frank: a magical-realist portrait of the painter couple Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, conceived as an inversion of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. This vibrant new production is enthusiastically inspired by the works of the two Mexican artists.
